The process

How our Christmas light installation works

Seven steps, none of them a surprise, from the first message to the last clip coming off the house in January.

Step one
An owner calls you back
Step two
We measure at your house
Step three
The proposal, presented on site
Then
Install, maintain, take down in January

Every job runs the same way: we measure your house, we show you the design and the price at your house, and then we hang it.

The reason the process is built this way is that a roofline cannot be priced from a photograph and a display cannot be designed from a phone call. Two houses on the same street in Westfield with the same footprint can need very different amounts of wire, because one has dormers and the other has a single ridge. So the measuring visit is not a sales step. It is the only way to make the number and the design honest.

It also means you are never guessing about what you are buying. You see where every run goes, what is being left alone, and what the whole season costs including the maintenance and the takedown, before anything is ordered or cut. If you want to add the front trees after you have seen it drawn out, that is a normal conversation, and it happens before install day rather than on it.

The seven steps

01

You send the form or call

You give us the address and a rough idea of what you want lit. An owner calls you back, asks a few questions about the house, and we agree a time to come out. Nothing is quoted on that call, because nobody can price a roofline they have not seen.

02

We measure your house

One of us comes with a camera and a tape. We photograph the front elevation, measure every run of eave and gable, and look at the trees, the entry and where the power is. A ranch in Sheridan is quicker than a two story in Carmel with dormers, and you do not need to stand outside for any of it.

03

You see the proposal at your house

We come back with a design and a number and go through it at your table. You see every run that is being lit, what is being left alone, and what the season costs including maintenance and the January takedown. Nothing is ordered or cut until you say yes.

04

You go on the schedule

Once you approve it you have a date. Installs run from the start of November through the middle of December, and the design is finished before that, which is why the measuring visit happens in September or October.

05

We install

The strands are cut to your measurements in your driveway, clipped at even spacing, and the wire is routed so you are not looking at it from the street. The whole display is switched on and checked before we leave.

06

We look after it

If a bulb goes or a clip lets go in a January wind, call or text and one of us comes out. Season long maintenance is in the price rather than being a call out.

07

We take it down in January

Everything comes off the house, the roofline is left the way we found it, and your set either goes home with you or stays in our facility until next November.

Questions

Questions about the process

When should I book?

September or October for the same season. Installs run from the start of November through the middle of December, so the design and the measuring happen before that.

Booking early also means the measuring visit happens in decent weather, which makes for a better design than a walk around in the dark.

Do I need to be home for the measuring visit?

It helps for the first ten minutes so we understand what you are picturing, but the measuring itself happens outside and you do not need to stand in it.

You do need to be there for the proposal, because that is the conversation where you decide what is worth lighting.

When do I see the price?

At your house, with the design in front of you. The proposal covers the whole season, including the maintenance while the display is up and the takedown in January.

Nothing is ordered, cut or bought for your house until you have seen all of it and said yes.

What if I want to change the design after the estimate?

Tell us before install day and we adjust it. You can add the front trees or the entry to a roofline job once you have seen the design drawn out.

Changes after the strands are cut are harder, because they are cut for your measurements.
