Permanent lighting is a run of individually controlled fixtures mounted into the eave of your house, and Jingle & Glow Co installs it across Hamilton County, Indiana.
A permanent system sits tucked into the line of the eave, so from the sidewalk in daylight you see trim rather than a row of bulbs. At night each fixture is controlled on its own, which is the difference between a lighting system and a strand of color changing rope. Warm white looks like warm white, and it is the setting most houses run for eleven months of the year.
What people actually buy it for is December, and specifically for not doing December. There is no install to book, no takedown to schedule and nothing to store. The rest of the year it earns its place as architectural lighting on the front of the house, and for a game day or the Fourth of July it does something else for one evening.

A home at blue hour, with the porch and eaves lit and the lawn lit from the ground.
What permanent lighting gives you
A clean line by day
The channel follows the eave and reads as trim. There is nothing hanging and nothing to look at when the system is off.
Warm white all year
The everyday setting. It lights the roofline the way architectural lighting does rather than announcing a season.
Color when you want it
Holidays, a game day or a birthday, set from your phone and set back the next morning.
No ladder, ever
No install visit in November and no takedown in January, which for a two story house is the whole argument.
Installed by the owners
The same two people who measure your house are the ones mounting the channel into your eave.

How a permanent lighting install runs
Measuring the eave
We measure every run and look at how the eave is built, because that decides how the channel is fixed.
The design
Which runs are covered, how the system is grouped and what it looks like from the street, in warm white and in color. We show you the exact product on your own eave line.
The proposal
A single price for the installed system, presented at your house.
Install
Channel mounted, fixtures set, power run and the whole line tested after dark before we leave.
Setting it up
We set your everyday warm white scene with you and show you how to change it, then leave you with it.

Questions about this work
Can you see permanent lighting during the day?
You see a slim line following the eave, matched to your trim. From the sidewalk it reads as part of the house.
That is the main thing to look at when comparing systems. Anything that looks like a strand of bulbs in July is going to look like one every July.
Does permanent lighting replace Christmas lights?
For the roofline, yes. The eave runs are covered every year with nothing to install and nothing to take down.
It does not light trees, garland or the entry, so some houses run permanent lighting on the roof and still have us do the trees and the front door each season.
How is it controlled?
From your phone. You set the color once and the whole house changes in a few seconds.
Warm white is the everyday setting on most houses, and you change it on the evenings you want something else.
Is it worth it on a one story house?
Sometimes. On a ranch, seasonal installation is straightforward, so the money argument is weaker and it comes down to whether you want the year round lighting.
On a two story with steep peaks the argument is much stronger, because that is the house where the annual install and takedown costs the most.
