Christmas light installation in Fortville, Indiana

Fortville is a small town with a real Main Street, and the work here looks more like our work in Sheridan than like anything we do in the new build neighborhoods.

Jingle & Glow Co installs Christmas lights and outdoor lighting in Fortville, on the older houses and storefronts along Main Street and the streets off it.

The houses along and off Main Street are older, lower and closer to the sidewalk than the county's newer stock, with porches, decorative trim and mature trees along the street. A display here is seen from close range and often on foot, so spacing, neatness and the entry matter more than sheer scale.

A Fortville estimate is mostly about the porch and the trim. Older houses here are close to the sidewalk and their detail is what makes them worth lighting, so we spend the visit working out which clips will hold on what is actually there. You can read the whole sequence on our how it works page.

Older trim needs clips chosen for what is there, and every strand is still cut to length on site from professional grade bulbs and wiring. Season long maintenance is included, and takedown in January leaves the porch the way we found it.

The runs are short compared with a new build, and they are fussier, which is exactly the kind of job a fixed length store set cannot do. Town information, including anything your own neighborhood publishes about exterior decoration, is on the Town of Fortville site.

What lighting in Fortville needs

Main Street houses and storefronts

Older frontages seen at close range, where neat spacing is the difference between finished and thrown up.

Porches and decorative trim

Porch roofs, posts and rails take light well and are what make an older house look warm rather than outlined.

Street trees

Mature trees along the road are often the best thing on a Fortville property to light.

Questions

Questions from Fortville

Is Fortville too small for a professional install?

No. The size of the town has nothing to do with it. What decides the job is the house, and Fortville has plenty of older houses with the kind of trim that is worth lighting properly.

It is about forty five minutes from Sheridan, so it is booked ahead and routed with our other work on that side.

Can you light a front porch rather than the whole house?

Yes, and on a lot of Fortville houses that is the right place to start. A porch roof, its posts and the rail together look better than one thin line along the eave.

You can add the roofline in a later season without redoing the porch.

Do you light Main Street businesses?

Yes. A small town frontage is seen on foot, so it is lit close in at the window line, the door and the awning.

We install before opening so the sidewalk stays clear.
